The University’s extended Winter Break begins at the end of the workday on Monday, December 22, 2025, with normal operations resuming on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. Most offices will be closed during this time; exceptions and campus wide support can be found on the Campus Life Winter Break Resource page.

Therapy During Break:
- Students in the United States may use TimelyCare Teletherapy, a free teletherapy service that provides remote counseling from mental health providers licensed throughout the country. TimelyCare is an extension of CAPS - enrolled students have free access to up to 12 teletherapy sessions per year and unlimited access to a library of wellness videos via TimelyCare, on their desktops or via an app. TimelyCare can be accessed from any location in the United States.
- All students outside the U.S. have access to BetterHelp, an online mental health platform offering licensed therapists, support groups, and additional resources. Students may also contact UHC Global for assistance with locating an in-person provider anywhere in the world by calling 1-410-453-6330 or 1-800-527-0218, or by emailing assistance@uhcglobal.com. Students who need immediate support may also contact the Optum 24-Hour Crisis Line at 1-866-671-9302.
Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) offers a range of mental health treatment and prevention services for Brown students in an inclusive, compassionate, affirming and socially just environment.
CAPS provides brief and intermittent individual psychological treatment, mental health support, medication management, training and consultation for faculty and staff, crisis stabilization, 24/7 support, outreach programming, and groups. Since fall 2023, CAPS has partnered with TimelyCare to offer a free virtual care service for all currently enrolled students to address common concerns that can be safely diagnosed and treated remotely.
