Please arrive 15 minutes early for your CAPS appointment to complete pre-appointment forms. During your first meeting, a CAPS counselor will focus on learning about what brings you to CAPS, ask you questions about your experience and make recommendations about next steps that may include care at CAPS, referral to on-campus supports, or a referral to an off-campus mental health professional. Students who would like or benefit from weekly ongoing therapy will likely be supported in connecting to an off-campus mental health professional.
CAPS is located at the Student Health & Wellness Building (450 Brook Street).
Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your appointment to check-in and complete forms at the computers near the greeter station on the first floor.
After checking in, please take a seat and wait for your provider to come get you for your appointment.
After you check in for your appointment, a CAPS counselor will come to the doors to invite you in for your appointment.
You will then meet with a CAPS counselor in one of our private offices for a 30-minute planning appointment.
During your appointment you will be asked to describe your reason for seeking counseling, and the CAPS counselor will ask you a few questions about your current and past experience. The CAPS counselor will then make recommendations about a plan for the semester, and work with you to determine a plan to move forward.
